Description
A World Too Loud is a cosy, honest adventure about a nine-year-old autistic boy getting through a world that's just too loud.
Every sound, light, crowd, touch and smell fills him up, and you see and hear it as he does. Play his school days: number cards in maths, catching in PE, the recorder in music, clapping along in assembly. Find what helps: ear defenders, a quiet spot, a fidget, a break card. Too much is never a game over; a meltdown is shown with care, and he always comes back.
Between school days, the year is his: the garden behind the old fence, metal detecting, minibeasts, cooking and crafts with Mum, five telly channels, snow days and Halloween. The story comes in chapters, each a day that's hard in its own way, and a little braver than the last.
History
A World Too Loud is made by a small family studio in the UK. It started with one family's everyday days: the school gate, the lunch hall, the things that help and the things that don't.
The aim is a game that's kind, funny and true, for children and grown-ups alike: one that shows what too much feels like from the inside, without ever making it a punishment.
Features
- Make him yours: name him, pick his hoodie and hair.
- Senses you can see: sound, light, crowd, touch and smell fill up through the day, on screen and in the sound.
- Calm big feelings: Worry, Glare, Buzz and friends are calmed with card battles, puzzles and boss fights (the school hand dryer), or a break. Never beaten, befriended.
- School days you can play: short, never-fail lesson games, including a science circuit, that get harder on a loud day.
- Meltdowns shown with care, and he always comes back.
- A garden that grows: metal detecting, minibeasts, planting and picking, clearing the strip behind the old fence, laying paths your way.
- Home life: cooking with Mum, crafts from the telly on the fridge, five telly channels, a robot vacuum with opinions.
- Little secrets: look twice. A robot car one wheel short, a lost cat called Toast on the park noticeboard, a wallpaper that hides something.
- A whole year: seasons, snow days, Halloween, Bonfire Night and Christmas, with quiet music made for each place.
- Play your way: bigger text, a reading font, an optional narrator, captions, reduced motion, gentler fights, full controller support.

Use of AI tools
The narrator is an accessibility option for players who find reading hard. It's off by default; you can turn it on when you start a game or in Settings. Its voice is a text-to-speech model reading our own script, recorded during development. The music is written by us as code with help from an AI coding assistant, with every sound synthesised and nothing sampled. Some art started from AI-assisted concept images and was reworked by us, and some story text was drafted with an AI writing assistant and edited by us. Nothing is generated by AI while you play, and the trailer uses no AI voice.
